Gianfranco Marrone is a full time Professor of Semiotics in the Department of Cultures & Society at the University of Palermo, Italy. He teaches Semiotics of Food at the University of Pollenzo, and Semiotics at IULM (Milan).  His research interests include mass-media studies, aesthetics as well as literary theory from a semiotic perspective. His most recent work has made an innovative contribution to the field of socio-semiotics applied to food, branding, cities, journalism, space, politics, advertising, fashion, and TV. Peter Scholliers is full time professor with the Department of History at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), teaching and researching about social history of the 19th and 20th centuries. His interests include the history of labour and labour relations, consumption, food and material culture, about which he has published in national and international reviews. Peter Scholliers est professeur au Département d’Histoire de la Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). Il enseigne et étudie l’histoire sociale du XIXe et XXe siècle, et en particulier l’histoire du travail et des relations industrielles, de la consommation, de l’alimentation et de la culture matérielle.
